Irving Johnson Runs Aground! : In March of 2005, The brigantine sailing vessel Irving Johnson ran aground on the shoals near the entrance to Channel Islands Harbor. There she foundered for three days before being pulled back out to sea. She was still seaworthy enough to land at Ventura Harbor, where she underwent extensive repairs.
